“Popular People” has been playlisted on the Australian/Canadian radio show Stranded. Being on the same playlist as UMO and Dimmer makes us happy.
Stranded podcast #273
So, on my journey to find a picture of a baby moose (because Canada), I found out something interesting. Did you know Canada has about 1 million moose? I discovered that fact on mooseworld.com. Their site is partially about seeing how the metaphor of “moose” can make lives better and happier. I thoroughly encourage you to check out their website – it even has a moose of the day, every day. I’m not quite sure how I can apply the metaphor of “moose” in my life, but I’m sure going to try. Any way of celebrating all things Canadian can only be a good thing, like drinking maple syrup straight from the bottle. Now that’s the good life.
We’re officially a massive fan of Palmerston North. Sharing the love.

Our local newspaper, the Otago Daily Times, has an article about us. Sam Valentine said some pretty choice words about us. He’s an excellent musician in his own right, so we’re pretty stoked.
Our new single has been played on an Australian student radio station, in Castlemaine Victoria. The show is called “It’s a Jangle out there” – how awesome is that name!! The show host (Josh Meadows) plays a range of excellent music too. Check it out: http://mainfm.net/shows/its-a-jangle-out-there/. https://jangleoutthere.wordpress.com/2016/05/05/playlist-for-thursday-5-may-2016/
The new Prophet Hens single has been playlisted on the Spanish blog Bloodbuzzed. Raul called it ” the exciting new tune of dear Prophet Hens from our beloved Fishrider Records.” Thanks Raul!
The Prophet Hens has been featured on When You Motor Away Blog from the United States! Thanks Scott and the lovely folk at WYMA. Scott wrote “While the jangle pop approach remains, “Popular People” has a more upbeat feel, and has us eager to hear the rest of the album.” I’ve included an image of a sleepy panda because it’s pretty great http://whenyoumotoraway.blogspot.co.nz/…/popular-people-by-…
Good things only of course. We feel pretty special!
I initially posted this without a animal, but it didn’t seem right, so here are some cute red pandas! Our label manager of Fishrider Records, Ian, tells me that pandas are one of the most popular animals on the internet…but how awesome are red pandas?!
Check it out -“Popular People” got mentioned on Songbroker:
“Popular People” also got played on RDU 98.5 in Christchurch. Yus!
In other news, baby Caracals are crazy adorable! I’m just going to keep posting pictures of cute animals until someone stops me *evil laugh*
Under the radar has debuted our single, “Popular People Do Popular People”. You can listen to it here. Woop woop! :
If you’d prefer to listen to it on our bandcamp page, you can do that too (either or both, whatever tickles your fancy):
Here’s a cute picture of an otter, because I can post whatever image I want and I think an otter would be nice *grin*
We’re pretty excited to be playing out first gig of 2016, with a new bassist and drummer no less (Benton Glassey on bass and Ben Morton on drums). We’ll be playing songs from the soon be released 2nd album too. Oh the anticipation!
In other news, we had the world premiere of a single from the new album. “Popular People” is the 1st single from our 2nd album “The Wonderful Shapes of Back Door Keys” which is due out in June/July here in NZ and also in the UK/ Europe as a co-release with UK label Occultation Recordings.
Just to confuse everyone, “Popular People Do Popular People” – our 1st album, from which this new single gets its title, is also being ‘re’-issued on LP at the same time as our new album comes out.
